It would be worth hiring a car and getting to visit some of the spectacular beaches and also the beautiful countryside. Poetta Beach is one of Sardinias best beaches with a vast expanse of soft white sand curving round the Gulf of Cagliari, home to formula one and Grand Prix car racing.
Most children love caves, so a visit to Neptune's Grotto, (Grotta di Nettuno), near the town of Alghero is a must! Other popular caves include; Zuddas, San Michele di Ozieri and Ispinigoli.
Nature lovers shouldn’t miss the opportunity to enjoy an excursion on the “trenino verde” (Green Train). Step back in time on the steam trains and admire the unspoilt scenery which would normally be impossible to reach. Most popular route is Arbatax-Mandas, taking approx 5 hours.
Sardinia is also known for its love for horse riding. There are riding stables on practically every corner catering for all levels, from beginner to advanced rider.
